Havre's Verizon shop distributing back-to-school backpacks

A local cellular phone service is offering help for local students to get to school.

Verizon Cellular Plus in Havre announced it is giving away free backpacks filled with school supplies Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to noon.

A release from the Havre Verizon store said no purchase is necessary.

“This is a gift, from us, to our students,” the release said. “We are excited to be able to give back to our local community and make it a little easier for families to afford the essential supplies needed to start the school year off right.”

If people would like to help local students, the store is accepting donations July 11-29 and will distribute everything collected to local students.

A child must be present with an adult to claim a free backpack Saturday, July 30. A limited number of backpacks will be available and will be distributed while supplies last. One backpack will be allowed per student.
