Northern spikers fall to Western in home finale

It was a tough senior day for the Montana State University-Northern volleyball team. In their final match this season at the Armory Gymnasium, the Skylights were swept by the Montana Western Bulldogs.

The Skylights lost in three sets (25-27, 15-25 and 19-25). The Skylights pulled ahead early in the first set taking the lead 9-4. The Bulldogs were able to come back to tie the game, as the score went back and forth until the end when Montana Western went on a 6-3 run to take the set.

The Bulldogs jumped on Northern early taking the lead 19-6. The Skylights battled back, but it wasn't enough to win. In the third set, Montana Western jumped on Northern again to take the lead early 18-10. The Skylights battle back going on a 6-3 run, but the Bulldogs were able to finish the game with a win.

The Skylights were led by Macee Murphy, who tallied 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .357. Jessalyn Chvilicek added nine kills. Kaitlin Murdock led the team in digs with 15. Emily Feller led the team in assists with 35.

The Bulldogs were led by Jazi Smith, who each had 10 kills with a hitting percentage of .391. Peyton Vogl added nine kills and a hitting percentage of .350. Kaylee Fritz led the team with 23 assists in the match. Smith also led the team with 12 digs.3-4 in the Frontier.

The Skylights will be on the road for their last two regular season matches. They will play Montana Tech Friday in Butte and Carroll College Saturday in Helena.
