Chinook girls take second at Class B-C State Tennis Meet

The Chinook girls tennis team has always been a power in Class B-C tennis. But this season was above and beyond.

Led by a Class B-C state championship from Mya Berreth, the Sugarbeeters took second at last weekend’s state tournament in Great Falls. Berreth beat a top player from Fairfield in the state championship match, to finish off an incredible run. Berreth won five matches on her way to the state championship.

Chinook’s finish of 32 points was just three shy of Simms, which won its first state title. It was also aided by Rilee Molyneaux, who placed fifth for Sugarbeeters. Chinook also got points from two different doubles teams.

The Chester-Joplin-Invenress Hawks also scored 11 points at the tournnament, while Fort Benton added five.
