Blue Ponies race in Great Falls

This past Friday, the Havre High cross country teams continued their season with the Great Falls Cross Country Invitational. At Anaconda Hills Golf Course, the HHS girls team finished second while the HHS boys team took ninth.

In the girls 5,000-meter race for AA junior varsity teams and small schools, the Blue Ponies finished second with 77 total points. Helena won the girls meet with 51 total points while Billings Skyview finished third.

In that race, Paige Anderson finished fourth with a time of 22:45.2. Clara Haslem finished sixth with a time of 22:47.1 and Gracie Shandorf took 14th with a time of 23:41.5. Sarah Bachmeier finished 24th with a time of 24:33.2 and Marley Springer took 41st with a time of 25:38.2.

Ariel Ost finished 46th with a time of 25:45.0 and Mackenzie Hanson took 84th in the race. Jaidyn Cole finished 89th and Katie Messinger took 135th in the race.

Several Ponies also ran as individuals in the 5,000-meter girls AA varsity races. In the second girls race, Ashlyn Ford finished first with a time of 20:41.21. Her teammate Hailey Gingery finished 13th with a time of 22:13.64.

In the boys 5,000 meter race for AA junior varsity teams and small schools, Havre finished ninth with 238 total points. Helena won the meet with 17 total points with Sentinel coming in second and Big Sky coming in third.

Mason Gregoire finished eighth in the race with a time of 19:21.6. Dylan Kunz took 52nd with a time of 21:11.2 and Koby Preputin took 59th with a time of 21:22.2. Cesar Lara finished 61st and Brayden Nimmick took 69th. Rowdy Doney came in 106th and Eric Messinger came in 112th to round it out for the Ponies.

Several Ponies from the boys team competed as individuals in the AA varsity races. In the first race, Caleb Tomac took third with a time of 16:37.41 and Zack May finished 20th with a time of 18:48.48.

The HHS cross country teams will continue the season with the Capital City 7 on 7 in Helena this Thursday.
