Both Chinook teams headed to Northern B

In their first season back in Class B, the Chinook boys and girls basketball teams have had a lot of success. And thanks to a strong showing at last weekend's District 1B Tournament, the Sugarbeeters are still playing.

At the girls 1B tournament, top-seeded Chinook cruised to the championship game, and the team was undefeated as the Beeters took on second-seeded Fairfield. However, in their first loss of this campaign, Chinook came up just short of the 1B crown, as the Eagles upset the Beeters 42-39.

While the loss was a tough one for the Beeters, they will move on, as their hopes of reaching the Class B state tourney continue at divisionals.

Chinook will play at the Northern B Divisional Feb. 29 through March 2 in Conrad.

The Chinook boys are also headed to divisonals.

Chinook advanced at the 1B with a loser-out win over arch rival Rocky Boy last Saturday morning.

And while the Sugarbeeters lost to Shelby, 70-54, in the consolation game Saturday night, they still move on to this week's Northern B Divisional, which runs Thursday through Saturday in Malta.
