Bobby was born January 9, 1933, in Earlsboro, OK, to William and Florence (Langford) Horne. He was raised in Earlsboro, graduating from high school there. While in school, Bobby enlisted in the Army Reserves, and was honorably discharged a short time later. He immediately enlisted in the US Army and later transferred to the US Air Force, where he wound up stationed in Glasgow, Montana. There, Bobby met Patsy Robbins, and the couple married in 1958. He remained in the Air Force until his retirement in 1974, when the family couple moved from Virginia to Nashua, Montana. They then moved to Havre in 1977, where Bobby worked for Weaver Maxwell until they closed and then for Circle K. After managing the Circle K, he worked for Burlington Northern until his retirement in 1996.

When he was younger, Bobby enjoyed whittling. As he aged, he enjoyed writing poetry and was an avid reader and historian. He enjoyed a close relationship with his Lord, and served faithfully in the church as a Deacon. Bobby adored his wife, Patsy, and he dearly loved his family.
