Local events planned for Veterans Day

Events are set to commemorate Veterans Day Tuesday at the Hill County Courthouse and at the Vets Club.

Joe Ross will be the master of ceremonies at the courthouse, with the program starting at 11 a.m.

Rodney Mruk, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, will give an invocation. Dena Rudio will sing the "Star-Spangled Banner." A moment of silence will be held for veterans and for victims of 9-11.

VFW post commander Jim Matter and VFW Auxiliary president Marjorie Purkett will lay a wreath to honor all veterans, and American Legion commander Dennis Hinkle and United Veterans Council president Marlene...
