Nez Perce Indians from the reservation in Lapwai, Idaho, gathered with 40 or so Gros Ventre and Assiniboine from Fort Belknap, Chinook residents and National Park Service officials on the Bear Paw Battlefield Saturday for the 34th year in a row.

They commemorated the 133rd anniversary of the historic battle, which culminated with the Nez Perce surrender to the United States Army.
