Polish-born Gertrude Blanch is considered a pioneer in numerical analysis and computation. Born circa 1897, she later spent 14 years working as a clerk to save enough money for a college education. At one time, before a hearing cleared her name, she was suspected by the FBI of being a secret communist. Molly Herron, who was dressed in a Victorian style dress and seated at a desk with musty books, relayed Blanch's biographical information.
