Our View: Newcomers to save local treasure

Sometimes newcomers to Havre see things in our fine city that longtime residents miss.

Such was the case when Marc Whitacre and his wife, Erica Farmer, arrived in town for their jobs at Northern Montana Vision Center.

It wasn't long before they saw the opportunities at the former post office and federal building on 3rd Avenue.

The couple announced plans this week to restore the architectural treasure. The first two floors will be for renovated for offices and other public spaces. The couple will use the upper floor as their home.
