Local schools get comprehensive literacy grants

HELENA — The Office of Public Instruction announced grant award recipients today under the Montana Comprehensive Literacy State Development Project including Rocky Boy and Chester-Joplin-Inverness schools.

Last year, Montana received a 5-year, $50 million federal Striving Readers Comprehensive State Development Program grant from the U.S. Department of Education which funds MCLSD awards. The purpose is to advance literacy skills using evidence-based practices, strategies and interventions for all children, preschool to grade 12, with an emphasis on disadvantaged children.
