Letter to the Editor - Ask for an absentee ballot

Dear Editor:

The Hill County Commissioners have voted down mail-in ballots for the General Election because they feel it is right I guess or maybe some other fraud idea. Twenty-four people told Commissioner Peterson they wanted to vote in person, every voters right and they could even do so with a mail-in ballot, just take with you to the court house and vote right there as in the Primary. Don’t trust the mail, walk it into the court house.

A big question will be just where are the polls going to be located. Two school locations are out right now here in Havre, that’s going to be a traffic jam waiting to happen, more congestion someplace and why?

Commissioner McLean votes absentee, yet votes against the resolution. President Trump raves how fraudulent vote by mail is, but requested absentee ballots for himself and his wife from Florida???? If one were to look at the number of absentee ballots already in Hill County and around the state the numbers will knock your socks off. Ask the Clerk and Recorder’s office, they will tell you.

Well there is more than one way to skin a cat, do what I did this morning. Get on the horn and call the Clerk And Recorders Office, 265-5481 and ask for an absentee ballot form and they will send it to you. I personally have never missed voting since I turned 21 and in very election I went to the polls to do it with pride, with the exception of 1966 while in the Army I voted absentee and this past Primary. There have been City elections that were all mail in and I voted.

Remember just call the Hill County Clerk and Recorder’s office 265-5481 and ask for and absentee ballot! We may get a mail-in ballot election without the resolution and stay healthy doing it.

James K. Griggs
