Cottonwood Cinema closing Monday through Thursday

Change will be temporary

Cottonwood Cinema in Havre will be reducing its hours of operation starting today opening Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with shows at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Polson Theatres General Manager Gary Dupuis said the pandemic has had an effect on business and opening Mon-Thurs is just not serving them well.

“The midweek just kills us on the expenses of being open for what we’re getting,” Dupuis said.

He said the effects on the film industry on the national level have also made things difficult with so few films coming out, and those that do often having low-key marketing.

“There just isn’t much out there,” he said. “I mean we’re playing what we can get.”

He said this model is being adopted by the company’s whole theater chain and will be temporary.

Dupuis said they will see how things go and make changes if necessary.
