Dog Park 'Souper' fundraiser set for Sunday

The Havre Dog Park Club is holding a first of the year fundraiser with its “Souper” Event 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Old Station Brewing Co.

Wanda Meredith, co-chair of the group, said that since last summer the dog park, behind Havre Ice Dome at 2585 Fifth Ave. S.E., has the basic dog park setup with both large and small dog areas fenced and in use. The dog park is free for everyone to use, she added, along with the toys that are up there.

But the club is ready for its next round of improvements and fundraisers like this one have helped pay for the fencing, a dispenser for bags to pick up dog droppings, a riding mower and a storage shed, all features in place at the park through donations and volunteer efforts.

The Souper Event will have soup, salad and bread sticks for $25 person and $5 for the children’s meal. The meal will be catered by Chachi’s Taco, the food vendor that regularly serves at Old Station.

The first 50 diners will get a pottery bowl made by Steve Helmbrecht of Havre, Meredith said.

The Havre Dog Park Club is a non-profit organization, so all donations, including the cost of this meal, are tax deductible.
