Fair Board discusses events and maintenance

Dates set for 2023 Great Northern Fair

The Great Northern Fair Board discussed ongoing upgrades and repairs at the fairgrounds at their weekly meeting Tuesday along with a number of upcoming events.

The grounds will host a BlackHawk concert Thursday evening at 7 p.m. with part of the proceeds going toward the Montana Association of Chiefs of Police to fund their yearly activities.

The Havre Jaycees Spook House will also open on the fairgrounds Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Community Building and Beer Gardens for $6 per person or $5 with a non-perishable food item for Havre Food Bank.

The Hi-Line Rodeo is set for Oct. 28 and 29, and, the evening of Halloween, the fairgrounds will also hold a trunk-or-treat.

The dates for next year’s fair have also been set for July 19 through 23.

After discussing upcoming events the board also talked about ongoing improvements to the grounds, with board vice-chair Bob Kaul saying they’ve been inspecting buildings for maintenance needs and have slowly but surely been making improvements around the grounds.

Board Chair Michelle Burchard said they also had a major water leak that was fixed last week and they’re still working on getting the Bigger Better Barn Walls painted.
