Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Puzzles

You know, Lord, sometimes puzzles are pretty fun to do. Friend Leah mentioned, as we visited, sharing that she remembered her folks doing jigsaw puzzles on their card table, sometimes even on one end of their dining room table - then giggled. She shared that her mom had mentioned that her parents also did those old-time puzzles, as after they had passed, they found several boxes of old jigsaw puzzles in one of their closets.

"Mama recalled that Grandma and Grandpa sat close together, now and then grandma would say, 'Stop bangin' my knee when I'm about to put in a puzzle piece!' Then they'd laugh."

We chuckled when she mentioned that her grandkids would probably not know a thing about old-time puzzles, as what they do now, probably wasn't even invented 50-60 years ago. "Remember when we were doing those word puzzles, we'd find a page of some most interesting words in Word Seek or Circle Circle'. Mom liked those pages, especially if suggested words showed up like: 'salad, brunch, snack', you know what I mean.' That probably gave mom an idea of what to fix for lunch." We giggled.

"Remember our old friend, Bill? Sometimes when we were kids, we'd go visit out where he lived. He loved taking walks with us and we'd be chatting away. Almost every time, he'd say, 'You suppose we could all be quiet for some minutes, maybe up to the next gate?' Well, our hike changed; we began to hear twigs snap, birds singing, we'd stop a moment and look at some lovely clouds. Then Bill would say; 'I remember Psalm 37:7, "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him ... ."'"

Leah added: "What a great idea, Bill. That quiet time spoke to me. I feel closer to my Creator now - thanks so very much for walking with us."

Love, Mara
