Skylights sweep Fighting Saints in the Armory

The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team got a big win Wednesday night. And against a bitter rival, too.

The Skylights volleyball team won in a Frontier Conference matchup against Carroll College Wednesday night in the Armory Gymnasium. The Skylights won in three sets (25-21, 25-18, and 33-31).

Carroll College controlled the beginning of the first set. Until the Skylights went on a 7-0 run to take the lead 20-17. The Skylights finished the set out strong. The Skylights controlled the whole second set to take the set. The third set was anyone's game, as Carroll went on a 7-0 run to take the lead 21-18. The Skylights pushed to tie the game up 24-24. Both teams had some great rallies, as the Skylight pushed through to take the last three points to take the match.

The Skylights were led by Maddison Underdal, who tallied 10 kills with a hitting percentage of .692. Alana Graves added 13 kills. Baily Egan led the team in digs with 34. Emily Feller led the team in assists with 26. The Fighting Saints were led by Mara Lynch, who had 10 kills hitting a percentage of .128. Jansyn Carrizales led the team with 16 assists in the match. Julia Carr led the team with 31 digs.

The win was Northern's first in conference play this season, as the Skylights improved to 9-10 overall. MSU-N travels to Billings to face Rocky Mountain College Friday night.
