Skylights fall at Frontier Tournament

The season came to end this past weekend for the Montana State University-Northern volleyball team.

The Skylights lost in the first round of the Frontier Conference tournament against Montana Western in Great Falls. The kylights lost in three sets (25-13, 17-25, 26-24, 11-25, and 8-15).

The Skylights got a big jump on the Bulldogs early scoring 10-2. They continued the momentum the rest of the first set taking the win 25-13. The Bulldogs jumped on the Skylights late in the second set going on a 12-6 run to take the set. The third set was a battle to the end, as Alana Graves and Lexa Stock got the last to kills of the set. Montana Western came out hot in the fourth set to take the set 25-11. The Bulldogs were able to control the fifth set to take the match and move on in the tournament.

The Skylights were led by Graves, who tallied 20 kills with a hitting percentage of .514. Stock added 15 kills. Baily Egan led the team in digs with 33. Macee Murphy led the team in assists with 31.

The Bulldogs were led by Peyton Vogl, who each had 16 kills with a hitting percentage of .406. Kaylee Kopp added 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .244. Kaylee Fritz led the team with 25 assists in the match. Jazi Smith also led the team with 21 digs.

MSU-Northern had a hitting percentage of .163 on the day, while Montana Western hit .229. The Skylights had 58 assists, as the Bulldogs had 50. Northern also had 108 digs to Montana Western 87.

The Skylights finished their season 12-14 in season and 4-6 in conference.
