  • Southern Oregon shows no mercy against Northern

    George Ferguson|Updated Sep 28, 2015

In what has clearly become a rebuilding season, things continue to be tough for the young Montana State University-Northern Lights. After two straight games where the MSU-N offense got shut out, that streak finally ended Saturday in Ashland, Oregon. But it mattered little as the Lights could do nothing to stop the No. 4 Southern Oregon Raiders at home. In record-setting fashion, the defending NAIA national champion Raiders pummeled the winless Lights 82-9 Saturday afternoon, d...

"Every guy was locked in on the sideline, because we knew the stakes were high." The No. 13 Bobcat's Beau Sandland caught 5...

  • Skylights swept at home by tough rivals

    George Ferguson|Updated Sep 28, 2015

The Montana State University-Northern Skylights look like a team that can compete with, and beat, anybody in the Frontier Conference. The Skylights are playing that well. They just need to find ways to get over the hump. But Friday night inside the Armory Gymnasium, it didn’t quite happen as Northern lost in three sets to No. 21 Montana Tech. The nationally ranked Orediggers edged the Skylights by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-23. On Saturday, the Skylights had another c...

Both the No. 15 Grizzlies (1-2) and No. 13 Bobcats (1-1) are at home for sold-out homecoming games this weekend, and both are looking to rebound from stinging road losses a week ago. Both teams are also playing their Big Sky Conference openers, so the stakes...

  • Lights on the road to play defending NAIA champs

    George Ferguson|Updated Sep 25, 2015

The Montana State University-Northern Lights want to win in the worst way. But perhaps more important than that, the Lights need to build confidence, and the way to do that is to play better. But standing in the way of all that is a 1,300-mile trip to Ashland, Oregon, and the defending NAIA national champion Southern Oregon Raiders. Northern (0-3, 0-4) and the fourth-ranked Raiders (2-1, 2-1) will hook up Saturday at 2 p.m. M.S.T. And while Northern's losing skid to start the...

    George Ferguson|Updated Sep 25, 2015

The high school golf season is short and quick. It starts before school gets going and it ends before fall really takes hold. And the end is in sight for the 2015 Havre High golf season. Havre begins postseason play Saturday when the Ponies compete in the Central A Divisional tournament in Lewistown. • Pony spikers make awaited home debut

    George Ferguson|Updated Sep 25, 2015

But that all changes tonight, when HHS welcomes the Lewistown Golden Eagles into the Pony Corral. The Ponies (3-2) are looking forward to taking on their arch rival Lewistown, a team that has dominated HHS in recent years. • Friday Night Lights: Bear Power

    Chris Peterson|Updated Sep 25, 2015

But these players had the foresight to dream big and now, four years later, that dream is becoming a reality. Brandon The Boy, Jerrod Four Colors, Bodis Duran, Jake Jones and Shane Ketchum have all had illustrious sports careers at Box Elder and all five have played important roles in waking the Bears football...

  • Nationals trek to Wyoming

    Chris Peterson|Updated Sep 24, 2015

The start of the North American Tier 3 Hockey League season was a tough one for the Glacier Nationals, but when you play the top two teams in your division, that’s to be expected. For the Nationals the fact that they started 0-2 and were defeated so handily had a lot to do with the fact that they faced Great Falls, which defeated them 12-1 and Helena, which bested them 7-1 at the Havre Ice Dome last Saturday. Fortunately, for the Nationals, the NA3HL season is a long one, a...

From 1968-1995, Bymaster was teaching the game of golf to hundreds of Blue Pony golfers, and while he accomplished many great things during his tenure o...
